Ways to Volunteer

Hospice_of_Spokane-313Volunteer skills are an essential part of the daily operation of Hospice of Spokane. Hospice volunteers can work in many areas. The following information describes each area of service:

Patient and Family Care
Patient and family care volunteers typically spend 2-5 hours each week providing direct patient care. In the direct care role, you may be needed to provide one or more of the following services:

  • Companionship and conversation
  • Grocery shopping or other errands
  • Memoir, email correspondence, letter writing or reading
  • Light housekeeping, yard work or shoveling sidewalks
  • Hospice House Volunteer
  • Haircuts
  • Home maintenance assistance
  • Meal preparation
  • Respite care so caregiver(s) can rest or run errands
  • Playing an instrument or singing
  • “Paws for Comfort” visits from Pet Partner Certified dogs
  • Reiki

Office Assistance
Office volunteers play a vital role in helping Hospice of Spokane efficiently serve our community. Office volunteers help with:

  • Mailings
  • Preparing materials for clients
  • Event support/Outreach
  • Host informational booths at local health fairs
  • Inform the public about hospice care
